This past Saturday, Gator Golf hosted sponsors, recipients and their children, alumni, and community supporters for the 12th annual Golftoberfest. Though it was rainy and chilly, supporters showed up in full force for two competitive flights of mini golf.

Despite mother nature, approximately 75 volunteers and 320 players attended Golftoberfest. DJ Spencer, with Brock Entertainment, kept the players and volunteers energized by spinning a mix of oldies and today’s pop hits. Before kicking off both the morning and afternoon flights— Executive Director Tyler B. Clark introduced our 2018 presenting sponsor Bank of Arkansas. Heather Rutherford and Darrell Annis with Bank of Arkansas spoke enthusiastically about their involvement and support of Golftoberfest.

Throughout both flights—cowbells could be heard ringing whenever someone was lucky enough to hit a hole-in-one. Those talented golfers were entered into a drawing to win a brand new remote-control car! In total—24 players “drove” away in their new car, and 34 players went home with a door prize.

After each flight—first, second, and third place prize baskets were awarded to the winning teams. Thanks to generous community business donations, the prize baskets were valued at over $1800.

This fun, family-friendly event offered golfers 18 holes of miniature golf, an official Golftoberfest t-shirts, goody bags, a kid’s activity zone, prizes and lunch. Collectively, Golftoberfest sponsors, volunteers, and participants sent the message to the SPSF NWA recipients that they are behind them in their efforts to pave a pathway out of poverty and into prosperity. Golftoberfest raised over $40,000 for scholarships this year.
