Pathway to Prosperity
As a nonprofit organization, Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA was faced with a significant funding challenge – the loss of $130,000 in annual scholarship funding beginning in 2015. To keep up with the rising cost of living and sky-rocketing tuition, and provide access to higher education as a single parent family’s pathway out of poverty, our leadership took a bold step to develop a strategy which would permanently address these challenges. A $3 Million endowment will:
• Ensure that we can continue to meet our region’s need for scholarships, as the numbers of single parent households and children living in poverty continue to climb;
• Fill a significant gap in funding we face with a broader base of support;
• Sustain our scholarship program by using the income earned from investments to fund 1/3 of our annual scholarship budget, leaving us to raise 2/3 of the budget through annual fundraising.
Thanks to committed volunteer leadership and many individuals who have given gifts “above and beyond” their annual support, we successfully reached our $3 Million goal.
Help us continue to pave a “Pathway to Prosperity” for single parent families in Carroll, Madison and Washington counties by volunteering, through your personal donations, or by sponsoring a program or an event.
If you’d like to establish a named, endowed scholarship in honor or memory of a loved one, we’d be happy to work with you to do that as well.
